Today, in a number of mass media and social networks, news under headings such as the " Azerbaijani Bar Association dismissed some lawyers' and etc. were published.

In this regard, the Azerbaijani Bar Association states that yesterday, by the decision of the Board of the Association, 17 lawyers from Ganja and Shaki regions were attached to the law offices of those respective regions.

According to the information received by the Bar Association, some of the lawyers who should be working in regions were instead exercising their profession in capital Baku city and this had a negative impact on the access to professional legal aid for the population in those regions. It should be taken into account that lawyers working in the respective regions have been seconded to those cities in concordance with the decision of the Board on the basis of their voluntary request.

In addition, even though the lawyers had to pay 2% of their monthly income to the lawyer's insurance bank account (professional liability insurance) for the purpose of indemnifying their responsibilities before a defendant or a represented persons, where some lawyers did not carry out their duties by breaking the law up until the present day.

In view of the above, the Board of the Azerbaijani Bar Association has warned those lawyers rather than imposing a disciplinary measure. In order to prevent similar violations in the future, those lawyers were attached to the law offices in the regions where they were supposed to work from the very outset.

The Board of the Bar Association kindly asks mass media, to address the Board of the Azerbaijani Bar Association in order to clarify the validity of such information before publishing it.
