An international conference on "Lawyers 2018 - Improving the quality of legal services" was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan on June 15-16, organized by the Council of Europe, OSCE, International Bar Associations, European Lawyers Association and Kazakhstan Bar Association.
During the conference panels issues of independence of lawyers and bar associations, deontology issues of lawyers, disciplinary responsibility of lawyers, organization of legal assistance and continuous vocational training, prospects of cooperation between Central Asian and European Lawyer organizations were discussed.
The event was attended by experienced lawyers from Azerbaijan, China, Poland, Great Britain, Turkey, Germany, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and France. The Chairman of the Bar Association of Kazakhstan Anuar Tugel, Chairman of the European Association of Lawyers Maria Slazak and Deputy Chairman of the Collegium Commission of International Bar Associations Peter Koves gave welcome speech and declared the event open.
Later, the event continued in panels.
It should be noted that the Bar Association of the Republic of Azerbaijan was represented by Deputy Chairman of the Presidium Aydin Akhundov and Member of the Presidium Mukhtar Mustafayev. Lawyer Mukhtar Mustafeyev who attended the Disciplinary Proceedings Panel, made a report on "Some Features of the Disciplinary Proceedings of lawyers in Azerbaijan" and informed the event participants about the recent reforms in legal profession in Azerbaijan, and emphasized the importance of expanding relations. In addition, Mr. Mustafayev provided complete answers to the questions that the participants were interested in.
At the same time, the Azerbaijani delegation, representing our country at the highest level, held bilateral meetings with the representatives of the countries participating in the conference and discussed further cooperation in the future.
