Yesterday, Thomas Meyer, Chairman of South Caucasus Legal Project of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), visited the Presidium of the Bar Association.

Chairman of the Bar Association Mr. Anar Bagirov welcomed the guest and shared his impressions about recent works done by the Board on the increase of the number of lawyers, The Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on additional measures for the improvement of lawyer profession, dated 22 February 2018, and its historic significance for the law profession in the country, as well as in the foreseeable future, that there will be positive changes in the availability of free legal aid to a people with low income.

The prospects of mutual cooperation between the Bar Association of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) were discussed at the meeting and an agreement was reached to provide technical support by the Company in the future on additions and amendments to the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Lawyers and Lawyer Profession".

In addition, financing of "Azərbaycan Vəkili" (Azerbaijani Lawyer) magazine, as well as the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Law Profession in Azerbaijan and the organization of events regarding anniversary were discussed and an agreement about the publication of the magazine with the financial support of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), as well as the mutual co-operation in the process of organizing events related to the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijani lawyer was achieved.
