On October 15, a meeting was held at the
Legal Aid Center of the Azerbaijani Bar Association (ABA) with a delegation led
by Oleg Smirnov, President of the Irkutsk Region Bar Association of the Russian
Federation.
Welcoming the delegation, the Chairman of
the ABA, Anar Baghirov, provided a comprehensive overview of the Bar's
activities, including its ongoing initiatives and collaborative projects with
both local and international organizations. He highlighted the numerous
successful partnerships that have been established in this regard.
The Chairman further emphasized the
significant advancements in the integration of information and communication
technologies within the legal profession. He elaborated on the "Electronic
Lawyer's Order" system developed by the ABA, noting that it is
continuously being refined with the support of ICT specialists.
Addressing the work undertaken by the Legal
Aid Center and the ABA Academy, Mr. Baghirov underscored the provision of free
legal assistance to individuals from vulnerable groups, as well as the ongoing
professional development programs for lawyers.
During the meeting, Gozal Huseynzade, Head
of the International Cooperation Department at the ABA, delivered a detailed
presentation on the recent reforms and initiatives within the Bar Association.
She discussed the measures taken to enhance the reputation of the legal
profession and shared the positive outcomes achieved as a result of these
efforts.
Oleg Smirnov, President of the Irkutsk
Region Bar Association, expressed his appreciation for the productive
discussions during the meeting, commending the ABA for its progressive actions
in this field.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of
views, where participants discussed prospects for future cooperation and other
issues of mutual interest. Questions from both sides were addressed in an open
and constructive dialogue.
Following the meeting, the delegation visited the administrative offices of "Kamandar Nasibov & Partners" law office, where they were briefed on the firm's operations. The firm's director, Kamandar Nasibov, noted that over 100 lawyer robes from various countries have been collected at the firm. With the support of the ABA, the world’s first "World Lawyer Gowns and Attributes" exhibition and museum was established. The museum, located within the law firm, houses nearly 10,000 exhibits, including medals, orders, badges, stamps, and banknotes related to the history of law and justice.
