The School of American Law (SAL) Program opens registration for the new Winter Semester

As of March 30, 2023, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the School of American Law (SAL Program) and the Bar Association of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ARVK). Under this agreement, ARVK members are prioritized during admissions and receive an additional 10% discount on the SAL program tuition.

Key Details:

•          Program Structure: The SAL takes two semesters and provides 10 credits toward a master's degree at Chicago-Kent College of Law.

•          Pathway to LLM: Graduates of the SAL continue LL.M. at Chicago-Kent College of Law within three years to continue their legal studies toward an LLM degree.

•          Class Format: Courses may be taken online or in classrooms selectively, scheduled by Chicago-Kent. Classes will be planned once a month on weekends.

•          Language Requirement: TOEFL/IELTS is not required.

Tuition and Discounts for the New Semester:

•          Deadline: December 1, 2024

•          Tuition: ABA members pay $6,165 instead of the standard $6,850 (with installment payment options).

Additional Benefits at Chicago-Kent College of Law:

•          Accelerated LLM Degree: SAL graduates may complete their LLM degree in one semester instead of one academic year, paying $10,000 instead of $43,860.

•          Scholarships: SAL graduates with the highest GPA of 4.0 receive a full 100% tuition scholarship.

•          TOEFL/IELTS Exemption: SAL graduates are exempt from TOEFL/IELTS requirements.

•          LLM Timing Flexibility: The LLM semester can be completed immediately after SAL or within three academic years.

•          Practical Experience: Access to Chicago-Kent’s innovative legal clinics.

•          Professional Networking: Direct connections with Chicago's legal community, top private law firms, corporations, and legal organizations.

•          OPT Eligibility: Students who complete two semesters at Chicago-Kent qualify for a 12-month Optional Practical Training (OPT) work authorization in the US.

•          Bar Exam Eligibility: After two semesters at Chicago-Kent, graduates can sit for the US bar exam (in New York, Illinois, California, and other states).

Application Criteria:

1.         Bachelor’s degree in Law.

2.         Proficiency in English for written and oral communication (TOEFL/IELTS not required).

3.         Successful interview participation.

•          Notarized translations of diploma and transcripts in English.

•          Copy of passport or ID.

•          Copy of attorney license.
