On August 6, a meeting was held at the Legal Aid Center of the Bar Association of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ARVK) with a delegation from the Salerno Bar Association of Italy, led by its Chairman, Alberto Toriello.

Opening the meeting with an introductory speech, Shahmar Mammadov, Deputy Chairman of the ARVK and Director of the Legal Aid Center, welcomed the guests on behalf of the Chairman of the Bar Association, Anar Baghirov, and expressed his satisfaction with the warm relations between the two countries. In his speech, he spoke about the fundamental steps taken towards strengthening the institution of advocacy in Azerbaijan, aligning it with international standards, and modernizing its activities. The Deputy Chairman highlighted that the Bar Association places special importance on deepening international relations, noting that in recent years it has both become a member of several prestigious international organizations and established direct cooperation with the bar associations of foreign countries. Furthermore, he noted that the Bar Association actively participates in the events of its international partners and also organizes such events at a high level. In conclusion, Shahmar Mammadov emphasized that as a result of the reforms, the prestige of the legal profession has significantly increased, positive dynamics have been achieved in defending the rights and freedoms of citizens, and the Bar Association is determined to further expand its activities in this direction.

Moreover, at the meeting, Gozal Huseynzade, Head of the International Cooperation Department of the ARVK Apparatus, delivered a presentation on the work carried out in recent years, the growing attention to the legal profession, and the results of reforms in this field, providing the guests with detailed information.

Alberto Toriello, Chairman of the Salerno Bar Association, expressed his satisfaction with the meeting and stated that he highly appreciates the steps taken towards the development of the institution of advocacy in Azerbaijan.

The meeting continued with an exchange of views, during which future cooperation and a number of other issues of mutual interest were discussed, and questions were answered.

At the end, the guests toured the administrative building of the Center, where they were familiarized firsthand with the working conditions and the main directions of the Center's activities.
