On March 7, 2026, a multi-day course on “International Commercial Arbitration” was launched for members of the Bar Association.

On the first day of the course, the Director of the Training Center of the Bar Association, Amir Aliyev, delivered an opening speech, welcomed the participants, and wished them success in the training program. Participants were informed that the course is prescribed as a mandatory training activity in accordance with Article 16-1 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Lawyers and Legal Practice,” aimed at improving the professional skills and qualifications of lawyers.

Nazli Ahmadova, Chair of the Business Law Committee of the Bar Association, noted in her speech that during the course period, from March 7 to May 9, lectures and discussions dedicated to actual issues of arbitration law would be organized for participants.

According to the course program, on the first day, trainer Azer Aliyev — a member of the Board of the Baku Arbitration Center and a professor at Martin Luther University Halle–Wittenberg in Germany — delivered a comprehensive presentation on the topic “Introduction to Arbitration. Arbitration Agreements,” providing a detailed explanation of the subject.

Various questions related to the topic were raised for discussion and analyzed interactively together with the participants, allowing for an exchange of views.

It should be noted that this course is being implemented within the framework of cooperation between the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP), the Baku Arbitration Center, and the Bar Association of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

A total of 45 members of the Bar Association will participate in the training course.
