MEMBERS OF AZERBAIJANI BAR ASSOCIATION PARTICIPATED IN COE HELP ANNUAL CONFERENCE

An annual conference on the Human Rights Education Enhancement Program (HELP) of 2018 conducted by the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France, was held on 4-5 July. The main purposes of the event, which is attended by more than 150 representatives from 47 member states of the Council of Europe, are highlighting impact of training of legal professionals in strengthening human rights, democracy and rule of law in Europe, reinforcing the HELP Network and discuss future network actions on a national and cross-border level, present developments and updates on programme and projects and new/updated online courses.

It should be noted that this year's event was organized within the framework of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Council of Europe and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the European Court of Human Rights.

At the event, the activity of Azerbaijan's promotion of the HELP platform for 2018 was assessed by the Council of Europe's Human Rights and Rule of Law Directorate as an exemplary. At present, Azerbaijan is ranked 10th among the 47 member states of the Council of Europe on the promotion of the HELP platform.

Head of the Council of Europe Human Rights and Rule of Law, Christos Giakompoulos and Chairwoman of the European Court of Human Rights Linos-Alexander Sicilianos attended the event.

It should be noted that the coordinators of the HELP Program in Azerbaijan are Farhad Najafov, head of the Bar Association's Office and lawyer Zulfikar Babayev.

Our country was represented by Sima Yagubova, a member of the Presidium of the Bar Association and Babek Hamidov, a member of the Bar Association.
