2019 is being celebrated as the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the legal profession in Azerbaijan and Georgia. As part of this celebration, it was decided to hold The 1st Southern Caucasus Lawyers International Football Tournament jointly organized by Azerbaijani Bar Association and Georgian Bar Association.

The opening ceremony of the tournament was held today at the Baku Business Center with the participation of Mr. Anar Bagirov, the Chairman of Azerbaijani Bar Association, Mr. Aydin Akhundov and Mr. Parviz Alakbarov, Deputy Chairmen, as well as the Organizing Committee of the tournament and the teams participating in the tournament.

Opening the event, Mr. Anar Bagirov greeted the representatives of teams and noted that this year is of particular importance to the Azerbaijani and Georgian lawyers. He expressed his pleasure that Azerbaijan hosts the tournament.

Giorgi Chekhani, Executive Director of the Georgian Bar Association, welcomed the guests as co-organizers of the event and said that he appreciates the cooperation with the Azerbaijani Bar Association in sports, as well as other fields.

Then the draw of the tournament was held, groups the teams were located and games to be played in the coming days were determined.

The tournament, which will be held from October 3-6, will be attended by 16 football teams from 10 countries. Group stage matches will be held October 3-4 and play-off matches will be held on October 4 and 6.

It should be noted that the 1st Southern Caucasus Lawyers International Football Tournament is held with the organizational support of the Azerbaijan Mini Football Federation and Azfar Group.
