CCBE & ABA joint webinar: Deontology issues - professional secrecy and freedom of speech of lawyers

The joint webinar on “Deontology issues - professional secrecy and freedom of speech of lawyers” by the Council of European Bar Associations and Law Societies (CCBE) and The Azerbaijani Bar Association (ABA) will take place on 12.01.2022, at 12:00-15:00.
 
The opening of the event will be jointly held by the Chairman of the ABA Mr. Anar Bagirov and the Vice President of the CCBE Mr. Pierre-Dominique Schupp.
 
Afterward, the below-mentioned speakers will make presentations on the following topics:

      1. Existing disciplinary rules for lawyers in Azerbaijan - professional secrecy and freedom of speech of lawyers:
Shahmar Mammadov - Chairperson of the Lawyers’ Disciplinary Commission of the ABA;
Ilhama Hasanova - Deputy Chairperson of the Lawyers’ Disciplinary Commission of the ABA.

      2. CCBE Charter of core principles of the European legal profession, Code of Conduct for European lawyers and the recently adopted Model Code of Conduct – presentation:
Jean-Louis JORIS -member of the Deontology Committee of the CCBE.

      3. Presentation of national experiences and exchange of views, Q&A session:
Belgium – Alex Tallon, former President of the Bar of Brussels, a former member of the board of directors of the Order of Flemish Bars in charge of deontology;
Slovenia – Janez Starman, President of the Slovenian Bar Association;
Georgia - Irakli Kandashvili, Board member of the Georgian Bar Association;
Poland - Piotr Chrzczonowicz, President of the District Disciplinary Court for Attorneys-at-Law in the Toruń Bar Association;
 
The event will be moderated by the Counselor to the Chairman of the ABA and chair of PECO Roman Zavrsek and the Q&A session will be organized at the end.
 
Taking into account that the main part of the event is in English simultaneous translation will be provided.
 
The webinar will be hosted over the Zoom platform and will be live-streamed on the Bar Association's official Facebook and Youtube pages.
